Dicky is an Engineer by training having obtained an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from Kings College, London. He is also a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Civil Engineers and The Institute of Water Engineers and Scientists in the UK. He came to East Africa in 1969 where he was a Consulting Engineer on engineering projects for initially the United Nations and subsequently the World Bank. He specialized in dam design and construction; water and sewerage supplies and urban infrastructure upgrading. In 1982 he formed Homegrown (now known as Flamingo Holdings) a world class horticulture company and in 2004 he was voted one of the top ten Most Respected CEOs in East Africa, an award by Price Water House Coopers. Throughout his tenure in Kenya, Dicky has held numerous representative appointments including representing the private sector on the Moi Presidential Economic Commission in the 1990s working with the IMF and the World Bank for which he was awarded the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya in 1996. He also represented the private sector on Vision 2030, initiated by President Kibaki. In partnership with the previous management, Dicky became involved in Express Travel Group in 2006 and formed the larger organization, Hemingways Hospitality Limited, in 2010. Along with Express Travel Group, the company also owns and operates the Hemingways Collection; the definitive portfolio of luxury boutique hotels in Kenya. Dicky has project managed the design and build of both the prestigious hotels in the portfolio, namely Hemingways in Nairobi and Hemingways in Watamu. Dicky has lived in Kenya for over 47 years, is married and has three children. His interests include Rugby, where he captained Kenya and East Africa for a number of years in the 1970s, Big Game Fishing including Tag and Release programmes.
Has over fourty years of experience in the hospitality industry. His experience spans across Europe & Africa having worked in United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa and Kenya. In 1984, he came to Africa and first worked in Cape Town, South Africa before moving to Kenya in 1993 where he has been a resident ever since. He has been in the Tourism industry where he has been instrumental in building Sarova, Serena and Hemingways Hotel brands in East Africa and beyond. Alastair is educated at Daniel Stewarts College, Edinburgh and is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (BA degree in hotel management - 1978). He has been a Director at Express Travel Group Ltd. since 2008 and later took the Chief Executive Officer position in 2010. As the Chief Executive Officer he has been involved in successful vertical integration of Hemingways Hospitality Limited into a self-sustaining organization. Hemingways Hospitality Limited provides a host of solutions within the travel management portfolio, something that few other companies have been able to successfully achieve.
Ross joined Express Travel Group in 2016 as Group Operations Director, and ascended to the CEO position in 2021. Prior to joining the group, he worked for BNY Mellon, a US financial institution, for 9 years specializing in transaction banking and capital markets. During his banking career, he worked in London, Singapore and India. Ross graduated from Cardiff University in 2006 obtaining a BSc in Business Economics. Ross was born and raised in Kenya. Ross is married with one child.
Joined Express Travel Group in 2009 as Finance Manager and rose to Group Finance Director. He is a holder of a PhD Finance from JKUAT University, Master’s Degree in Finance from Nairobi University, Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from USIU, Diploma in Business Administration from Kenya Institute of Management, Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) and Certified Public Company Secretary (CPSK). He spent the early part of his career with Midnsell Group Adam & Associates as an Auditor for 8 years and then spent 6 years as Group Financial controller in Sovereign Group Ltd and DL Group Limited. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Kenya Institute of Management as well as a member of the Certified Public Secretaries (CPSK).
David joined Express Travel Group in August 2016 as Sales & Marketing Manager. He has vast experience in the Corporate Travel Industry, having previously worked with other leading travel companies in the region. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business Administration, from the United States International University (USIU) and is currently awaiting to graduate with an MBA in Strategic Management from the same University. He is an accomplished Relationship Management Professional, and understands how to prioritize our clients’ needs. He monitors all aspects of our Sales and Marketing Department and ensures that there is continuous value addition to our clientele. In his free time, David like to travel, play golf, and socialize.
Rachael Mohamed joined Express Travel Group in 2000 as a Senior Travel Consultant and was promoted to the position of a Supervisor in 2009. She held the position until September 2013 when she was appointed as the Travel Manager. She is based at the offices’ headquarters in Karen - Nairobi. Rachael holds an IATA / UFTAA diploma from Geneva Switzerland and is a certified Hotels Sales Specialist (Marriott Hotels). Rachael is customer service oriented with wide knowledge in the travel and airline industry. Her invaluable experience spans 20+ years.
Stephen Soita has a wealth of experience in the tourism industry stretching well over 20 years. He is an all-round professional having worked at big tour companies both in Kenya and Tanzania during which time he rose through the ranks in the process gaining immense experience. Soita believes nothing beats experience. He is a holder of a Diploma from Kenya Utalii College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure and Recreation from CHN university, Netherlands. In his free time, Soita likes to travel, watch sports and engage in philanthropic activities.
Silvano Njeru joined Express Travel Group in 2017 as Branch & Business Development Manager in Mombasa. He brings a wealth of experience in Business Development, Client Relationship Management as well as Sales and Marketing of Services more so in the Travel Industry having worked with Leading Airlines and Travel Management Companies in East Africa for Ten (10) years now. He holds a Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor of Commerce, (B Com, Marketing Option), both from the University of Nairobi.
Fredrick Odhiambo joined Express Travel Group Ltd in 2000 and has diligently grown over the years. Due to his hard work and output, he was promoted from the Rentals and Leasing Assistant Operations Manager, a position he held from 2017, to the Transport Manager in 2020. Previously worked as an instructor and Examiner in the paramedics’ field. A holder of Business Management degree from Moi University with experience in client relations and sales. With Key roles in expanding services both local and international, ensuring fleet is diverse and up to standard, projecting & forecasting growth of existing corporate clients, strong relations with suppliers, manage client issues and ensuring feed backs of varying complexity are resolved to the customers satisfaction. His diverse knowledge in the field of travel in relation to Rentals and leasing is of additional value to our clientele.
