We would like to bring to your attention new mandatory quarantine requirements for arrivals into Kenya from a select group of five countries. Based on the recent global emergence of new highly transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variants, resulting in a surge of cases in some countries in the region the Ministry of Health would like to curtail the spread of these new variants.
Therefore, The Ministry of Health has put in place stringent surveillance measures to curtail the community transmission of these new variants including; spot testing of travelers at points of entry, isolation of positive cases with recent history of travel, genomic sequencing of samples of such positive cases, and vigorous contact tracing of contacts of travelers who turn positive upon arrival.
Travellers from the following states and territories shall be required to undergo mandatory quarantine upon arrival into Kenya at their own cost a from 8th March 2021:
Travelers from the above listed counties shall be required to:
i) Be in possession of a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test result conducted within 72 hours before travel and not display any flu-like symptoms upon arrival.
ii) Provide evidence of their booking for the quarantine locations 24hrs before boarding. The list of facilities available for quarantine can be availed from [email protected]
