Express Travel Group is a proud member of Hemingways Holdings, a major player on the hotel and travel company scene which consists of a Nairobi Hotel - Hemingways Nairobi, Hemingways Ol Seki - Masai Mara and Hemingways Watamu.

Express Travel Group has been operating in East Africa since 1955. The company specializes in cost-effective, customizable travel services to serve over 5,000 travellers each year.
A privately owned Company since 2004, Express Travel Group has 6 offices in Kenya.

Over the years Express Travel have developed four very distinct, but equally inter-related, divisions ensuring that every aspect of a travel service provider is professionally covered.
Express Travel operates a 24-hour office at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This office can assist with emergency ticketing, airline information, car hire or transfers. The office is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Express Travel continues to offer their clients professional, personal and cost-effective travel services. With over 115 staff employed, many of whom have been with the Group for over 15 years, clients can be assured they will receive a high level of service unrivalled in East Africa.

The first Express Travel Group vehicle pulled out of Nairobi in 1918. That was the launch of an epic journey that has ever since transformed the face of the local travel industry. Today, The Express Travel Group is one of the region’s largest and most sophisticated travel institutions --- a one stop travel shop handling everything from air travel and car hire to holiday packages, hotel reservations and travellers cheques.

The Express Travel Group became an IATA approved agency in 1955. We were also the first Kenyan Travel Agency to be linked to the internationally acclaimed Galileo Reservation System and now Amadeus, the latest and most efficient online access to all major airlines. Hemingways Expeditions, a division of Express Travel Group is East Africa’s No.1 Destination Management Company, the perfect partner for your most important incentive packages/safaris. With extensive years of experience in designing incentives between 20 and 800 people, our staff will work closely with you to tailor an itinerary to your specific needs. We know where the wild is and no one is better placed to take you there than us.

Express Travel Group operates a Car Services Division that specializes in Car Leasing, Car Hire, and Airport Transfers. We own and operate a wide fleet of vehicles providing our customers with a variety of options to suit their vehicle needs. In East Africa, you can choose from an extensive fleet of either self-drive or chauffeur-driven saloon cars, SUVs, 4WDs as well as mini buses, all under 30 months old. We are conveniently located at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and we have other offices in Nairobi and Mombasa.

As the sole representative of American Express (AMEX) in East Africa, the Express Travel Group not only deals with all credit card services but also issues American Express Travelers' Cheques various currencies. We also supply traveler cheques against foreign currency. Our regular contacts with American Express offices’ world wide are also useful for those travelers requiring assistance from outside Kenya.

Hemingways Expeditions, tours division of Express Travel Group scooped the Leading Inbound Tour Operator 2015 award in the recently concluded 22nd World Travel Awards that took place in Morocco on the 12th December 2015. Kenya was also voted the world’s leading destination giving a major boost to the tourism sector. World Travel Awards rewards and celebrates excellence across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry.

Chief Executive Officer
Alastair Addison, Chief Executive Officer, Hemingways Holdings Ltd has over thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry. His experience spans across Europe & Africa having worked in United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa and Kenya. In 1984, he came to Africa and first worked in Cape Town, South Africa before moving to Kenya in 1993 where he has been a resident ever since. He has been in Tourism industry where he has been instrumental in building Sarova, Serena and Hemingways Hotel brands in East Africa and beyond. Alastair is educated at Daniel Stewarts College, Edinburg and is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (BA degree in hotel management – 1978). As a director at Express Travel Group Ltd, since 2008, he took the Chief Executive Officer function in 2010 where he has been involved in successful vertical integration of Hemingways Holidays Ltd. In to a self sustaining organisation which provides a host of solutions within the travel management portfolio, something that few other companies have been able to successfully achieve.

Group Finance Director
Joseph Kithitu joined Express Travel Group in 2009 as Group Finance Manager. He is a holder of a Masters Degree in Finance from Nairobi University, Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from USIU, Diploma in Business Administration from Kenya Institute of Management, Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) and Certified Public Company Secretary (CPSK). He spent the early part of his career with Midnsell Group Adam & Associates as an Auditor for 8 years and then spent 6 years as Group Financial controller in Sovereign Group ltd and DL Group Limited. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Kenya Institute of Management as well as a member of the Certified Public Secretaries (CPSK).

Mr. Ross Evans
Group Operations Director
Ross joined Express Travel Group in 2016 as Group Operations Director. Prior to joining the group, he worked for BNY Mellon, a US financial institution, for 9 years specialising in transaction banking and capital markets. During his banking career, he worked in London, Singapore and India. Ross graduated from Cardiff University in 2006 obtaining a BSc in Business Economics. Ross was born and raised in Kenya.

Rachael Mohamed
Travel Manager
Rachael Mohamed joined Express Travel Group in 2000 as a Senior Travel Consultant and was promoted to the position of a Supervisor in 2009. She held the position until September 2013 when she was appointed as the Travel Manager. She is based at the offices’ headquarters in Karen - Nairobi. Rachael holds an IATA / UFTAA diploma from Geneva Switzerland and is a certified Hotels Sales Specialist (Marriott Hotels). Rachael is customer service oriented with wide knowledge in the travel and airline industry. Her invaluable experience spans 20+ years.

David joined Express Travel Group in 2016 as Sales & Marketing Manager. He has vast experience in the Corporate Travel Industry, having previously worked with other leading travel companies in the region. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business Administration, from the United States International University (USIU) and is currently awaiting to graduate with an MBA in Strategic Management from the same University. He is an accomplished Relationship Management Professional, and understands how to prioritize our clients’ needs. He monitors all aspects of our Sales and Marketing Department and ensures that there is continuous value addition to our clientele.

Silvano Njeru
Branch & Business Development Manager
Silvano Njeru joined Express Travel Group in 2017 as Branch & Business Development Manager in Mombasa. He brings a wealth of experience in Business Development, Client Relationship Management as well as Sales and Marketing of Services more so in the Travel Industry having worked with Leading Airlines and Travel Management Companies in East Africa for Ten (10) years now. He holds a Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor of Commerce, (B Com, Marketing Option), both from the University of Nairobi.
